Nuclear Medicine

Service Description

                  Medicine Image

Nuclear medicine is the subspecialty of radiology that is unique in that the body is imaged from the inside to the outside. Rather than an x-ray beam passing through your body, a camera is set-up to detect the activity within your body. The radiopharmaceutical containing the activity is either injected intravenously or into an existing catheter (tube), swallowed, or inhaled. As with any other test we perform, the lowest possible radiation dose is used to diagnose or treat disease. We have a full service nuclear medicine department, and perform a wide variety of examinations using different radiopharmaceuticals.
